From Hilo airport, with rental Car: Go to Pahoa, To do so you leave Hilo (Airport) and go left on highway. (Hwy 11 / Hawaiian Belt Rd. ) Go 6.7 miles direction Keaau and Volcano, take left direction Keaau: Stay on Highway, Go from Keaau to Pahoa (Hwy 130). After 12.2 miles it brings you at Pahoa.
You do not have to go in the old town but stay on the same highway till large intersection with stop lights: go there make a left and take Hwy 132 to Kapoho This brings you after 7 miles to an intersection, locally known as “Four Corners”. At the Four Corners you turn left (Hwy 137) and go almost exactly 1 mile, you turn Left on (unmarked) Cinder Rd.
This is the first road at your left and is a dirt road. Go 0.3 miles and turn right into Cinderland ecovillage and eco-hostel. (advise: in Hawaii people take it easy and do not drive so fast : so slow down and enjoy the ride, Mahalo)
Traveling by Hele-On Bus: The county bus starts in Hilo from the main bus terminal in downtown Hilo and will stop at the shopping center HILO (The bus station is between Wal-Mart and Home depot: a visible small bus shelter at the right side of the road) The bus you need to take is the HILO- PAHOA-KALAPANA bus. This will bring you to the four corners. From here you have to walk a 1.3 miles. (see the directions for cars above).
Attention: only the bus that goes the whole way to Pohoiki and Kalapana will bring you to the four corners. There is no bus going to and from the airport in HILO: you can take a taxi or hitchhike to one of the bus stations (It is a 3 mile ride to downtown Hilo bus station)
People who land at Kona airport: Take the Kona-Hilo bus to Hilo, and go from there with bus to Pohoiki/Kalapana..
Cinderland eco village and Hostel is close to the ocean, 4 miles away of the warm ponds, 2 miles away the mermaid ponds and 20 miles away of the black sand beach. It is 8 miles from the nearest town, Pahoa, where you can get groceries, find a large health food shop and Laundromat. Cinderland is secluded, what makes it a good place for retreat, rest and de-stressing: being away of the city and the buzz of electronic equipment.

Cinderland EcoVillage's Policies & Conditions: Cancellation policy: 48h before arrival. Payment upon arrival by cash. Check in from 11:00 to 23:00 . Check out before 11:00 . Taxes included. Breakfast not included. General: No curfew. Child friendly.
