From Philadelphia City Centre - (Public Transportation)

Take SEPTA bus #38 on Market Street between 5th and 13th Streets, or on JFK Boulevard between 15th and 20th Streets. Get off at Ford and Cranston Roads. Continue walking down Ford, turn left at the Stop Sign under the Stone Bridge onto Chamounix Drive, and then walk to the end (about a mile walk).

From points East of Philadelphia

Take I-76/Schuylkill Expressway West to Exit 339, City Ave/Route 1 South. NOTE, this is a left-side exit! Stay on City Avenue approximately 1 mile . Turn left on Belmont Avenue. First light, left on Ford Road. Stay on Ford Road half a mile, go through stone tunnel to stop sign, left at stop sign onto Chamounix Drive.



From New York City

Drive South on the New Jersey Turnpike. Get off at Exit 4, then drive north on NJ 73. Take that to NJ 38 West, to NJ 30 West, and over the Ben Franklin Bridge. Take I-676 West Take I-76/Schuylkill Expressway West to Exit 339, City Ave/Route 1 South. NOTE, this is a left-side exit! Stay on City Avenue approximately 1 mile. Turn left on Belmont Avenue. Located in Fairmount Park, just north of the ZOO (which is easily located by the ever-present hot air balloon!), along with many other Philadelphia treasures, including the Japanese House and Garden ; The Philadelphia Museum of Art; the Water Works; the central entrance to the Centennial--Memorial Hall; and Boathouse Row, historic Chamounix is worth the 10-15 minute walk to the bus stop, so most of our guests tell us. In a city filled with history, Chamounix is its best kept secret!

Guests may DROP OFF LUGGAGE between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM; they may CHECK IN anytime between 4:30 PM and 2:00 AM. We have a 2:00 AM CURFEW. We are closed everyday between 11 am- 4:30 pm. Guests must leave the premises during those hours. We do not accept group bookings online(any reservation of 9+ people), for group bookings a guest must contact us directly as separate terms and conditions apply. There is a daily lock-out between 11:00 AM and 4:30 PM. All guests must leave the premises before 11:00 AM each day and can return after 4:30 PM. Reservations must be cancelled 24 hours prior to check in date, otherwise guest will be charged for one night's stay. You must present government issued photo identification, and have a permanent residence outside a 50 mile radius of Philadelphia (see below). You must be over 18 years old to stay without an adult chaperon. Letters from parents or guardians expressing their wish to allow an underage guest to stay without a chaperon will not be accepted. We take the safety of our young guests seriously, as should their guardians. We accept Cash, Visa, MasterCard, and Travelers' Checks. WE DO NOT HAVE AN ATM. Hostelling International is a non-profit membership based organization whose mission is to help all, especially the young, gain a greater understanding of the world and its people through hostelling. We have been promoting peace through hostelling since 1909. Non-members will be asked to pay a $3 daily membership fee per night upon check-in. Memberships are available at the hostel or online The price posted is for Hostelling International members. We reserve the right to limit our accommodations to those genuine travelers who reside outside of a 50 mile radius of Philadelphia, as we are chartered as a resource for students, travelers, and non-profit groups. If you possess a local ID and a local address, Chamounix reserves the right to 1) inquire about the nature of your wish to stay at Chamounix 2) if accepted, limit the stay at the sole discretion of our General Manager. Our maximum length of stay is 7 days. Other arrangements may be made by speaking to our manager, and at his discretion.
